Roadworks To Note Across Co. Wicklow This Week

There are a number of road closures and diversions to consider across the county this week

Wicklow County Council has announced a series of roadworks in the Baltinglass, Bray, Greystones and Wicklow Municipal Districts.

Baltinglass Municipal District: the R747 at Redwells is closed until Friday, August 22, to facilitate the installation of a cattle underpass.

Alternative routes will be in place, northbound taking the R727 out of Hacketstown for 11.5km to the junction with the N81, turning right and proceeding on the N81 for 12.3km through Rathvilly towards Baltinglass.

Southbound, take the N81 out of Baltinglass for 12.3km to the junction with the R727, turning left and proceeding along the R727 for 11.5km towards Hacketstown.

In Bray: Albert Avenue is closed until Friday, August 15, to facilitate the reconstruction of a failed section of the roadway.

An alternative route is available via a temporary road link between Sidmonton Avenue and Quinsborough Road.

The Chapel Road entrance to Beechbrook Park in Greystones will be temporarily closed from 09.30am to 5pm until Friday, August 15, to facilitate essential utility works by Coffey Construction as part of the Chapel Road Pedestrian and Cycle Infrastructure scheme.

Access to the estate will be facilitated by a signed diversion route through

Kenmare Heights, with the existing traffic bollards being temporarily removed to facilitate traffic flows during these works.

Also in Greystones: the L-5211-0 Church Lane road will close from 9am to 6pm daily Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th of .

Northbound, there is an alternative route on Kindlestown Lower Road, turning right onto Rathdown Road, then right onto Church Road, with southbound commuters on Kindlestown Lower Road, turning left onto Bellevue Road, continuing straight and then turning left onto Church Road.

Travelling northbound on Church Road, turn left onto Rathdown Road, then left onto Kindlestown Road Lower, or southbound on Church Road, turn right onto Bellevue Road, continue straight and then turn right onto Kindlestown Lower Road.

In Delgany: the L-1027-4 Convent Road from the junction at Church Road to the junction at Bellevue Lawn will be closed on Saturday August 16th from 10am to 6pm to facilitate the Delgany Heritage Week Street Festival.

Local access for residents will be maintained, and diversion signs will be in place.

In the Wicklow Municipal District: works will take place on the R772 Newtownmountkennedy to widen the footpath and road at the bridge near the Coillte offices from Wednesday 13th until Friday 22nd of August. Traffic management will be in place.
