There are ten times more houses and apartments on Airbnb as are available for long-term renters.
The figures are revealed as the number of homeless in Ireland reached a record high last week.
According to the data platform Inside Airbnb, there are over 15,000 apartments and houses available across the country for short-term let.
However there are only 1,305 properties available for long-term rent on daft.ie.
The figures come at a time when there’s over 12,000 people living in homelessness here.
Analysis of data website 'Inside Airbnb' found there are 297 apartments and houses currently available in Wicklow.
However, there are only 27 properties available for long-term rent on Daft.ie.
Tighter legislation on Airbnb that could see an estimated 12,000 homes come on the market has been delayed by the European Commission.
