The Brown Booby has origins in the West Indies.
The bird was thought to be suffering from exhaustion after battling the effects of a recent storm.
It was taken into care by the Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit during the week.
According to their Facebook page, it passed away "peacefully" on Thursday night.
In a stament the Wildlife Unit said: "The bird had travelled a huge distance and lost a third of its body weight on its journey, and then during its time here, it had to deal with a much colder climate than it was used to.
