New Bray-Greystones Dart plan aims to increase frequency of trains by 50pc
Iarnród Éireann have now begun a non-statutory public consultation on the Emerging Preferred Option for DART+ Coastal South, Stage 1 Bray to Greystones Capacity Enhancements.
The consultation intends to help rail users or those likely to be affected by its development to air views.
All feedback and submissions received will be reviewed and assessed as part of the design development.
Following a full appraisal of the feedback, a public consultation report will be prepared to document this process.
DART+ Coastal South is the final piece of the DART+ Programme, joining DART+ West, South West, and Coastal North.
It will upgrade the Southern Line to boost capacity and increase train frequency, serving both existing communities and supporting sustainable development across the Greater Dublin Area.
**Stage 1: Bray to Greystones**
- * Increase train frequency from **2 to 3 trains per hour**.
- * Add a new **crossover south of Bray (Daly) Station** to improve track flexibility.
- * Upgrade **Level Crossing XR012 (Ennis Lane)** to a CCTV-controlled crossing for safety.
- * Modernize signalling, power, and telecoms systems.
**Stage 2: Dublin Connolly to Bray**
- * Boost train frequency from **6 to 12 trains per hour**, supporting faster and more reliable journeys.
- **Stations & Service**
- * All **20 existing stations** between Dublin City Centre and Greystones will benefit.
- * A new station at **Woodbrook** will be added.
- * Enhanced services will encourage a shift from car travel to rail, helping reduce **transport emissions**.
