Uisce Éireann, working with Dublin City Council, mobilised a contractor to clear all uprooted trees, undertake a risk assessment of remaining trees, and remove additional trees which may pose a risk to the public. Large accumulations of snowfall during the cold snap in early January has delayed tree clearance works, as we temporarily stood down works to prioritise the safety of crews on site.
They are appealing to the public to avoid the Vartry Upper Reservoir Park and surrounding areas until works to ensure the area is safe are complete. All public walking trails in and around the park will be closed until the end of February 2025
In the interest of public safety, the following areas will continue to be closed to the public: Vartry Upper Reservoir Park, Vartry Upper Dam Crest, Roundwood Reservoir and the Upper Vartry Trail, Vartry Upper Reservoir and the car park and layby along the R765, the woodland trail, the Roundwood Reservoir Woodpecker trail and all woodland walking trails in and around Vartry Upper Reservoir.
