The tender for the development of the new playground in Baltinglass Town Park is due to go out this week.
Funding for the new playground along with the extension of the Riverside Walk and the development of a plaza area in the Town Park was secured by Wicklow County Council in March 2023 through both the Community Recognition Fund and Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
Work has already commenced on the Riverside Walk and all work on the Town Park is expected to be completed by August 2024.
Most of the equipment in the park is damaged or unusable and work is needed to make the playground an accessible community space.
Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore has said the community will start to see progress being made on the playground over the coming months.
