The well known Downshire hotel in Blessington, which was the venue for the wedding of Gay Byrne and his wife Kathleen, closed down in 2005, and became an art gallery.
Prior to its closure, the hotel which featured 27 bedrooms, was in business for 46 years.
At the time it was put on the market in 2017, an asking price of €1.85m was suggested.
The 26,000 square foot premises has now been acquired by new owners, who are planning to convert the premises on Blessington main street into a nursing home.
