Cllr. Paul O’Brien has been elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council for the next 12 months.
The annual election for the positions of Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach for Wicklow County Council took place at the Annual Meeting held on Friday last (21st June) in County Buildings.
In his acceptance speech, Cllr. Paul O’Brien, stated: “I’d like to thank the Elected Members for their support in electing me to the position of Cathaoirleach for the coming year. It is a privilege to be given this role and I will do my utmost to wear the chain of office with honour. I will work to ensure Wicklow as a county continues to be acknowledged and recognised far and wide”.
Cllr. Melanie Corrigan was elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach for Wicklow County Council.
On her appointment, Cllr. Corrigan said: “I am honoured to be elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council and I would like to thank my colleagues for nominating me to this role.”
