Katie Taylor has been strongly backed to defend her lightweight belts when she returns to the ring this weekend.

The undisputed lightweight world champion will defend her belts for the seventh time at the Wembley Arena on Saturday where she faces Argentina’s Karen Elizabeth Carbajal, who puts her own unbeaten record of 19-0 on the line in her first professional bout outside of her home country.

The chances of the ‘Bray Bomber’ winning the fight and extending her unbeaten streak to 22 are rated at 1/33, but she has been taken the distance in her previous eight fights and has been backed into 4/11 from 1/2 with BoyleSports to win via the judges’ scorecards again.

Rounds six, seven or eight at 16/1 each are the most likely to see a Taylor victory should the fight be decided within the full ten rounds.

Irish punters are also eyeing another accolade for Taylor should she overcome Carbajal in London as she has surged clear in the betting to be crowned RTÉ Sports Person of the Year at an odds-on 1/8.
