New Water Mains In The Pipeline For Delgany

Works will begin on Church Road next week for "A water supply people can count on".

Work is about to start on replacing ageing water mains in Delgany, Co Wicklow.  Uisce Éireann says the upgrade will strengthen the village water supply and make the local network more resilient. The existing cast iron main was laid in 1940.

Crews will install 930 metres of new water main along the R762 Church Road, running from the Killincarrig Roundabout to Convent Road in Delgany Village.

Nicola Butler, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, says the investment will deliver lasting benefits for local customers:

"This investment will replace infrastructure that has served the community for more than 80 years with modern, resilient pipes. By improving water quality and strengthening the network, we are helping to build a more dependable water service for Delgany, now and for generations to come."

Traffic Management

Works begin next week. The project is being delivered by GMC Utilities Ltd. on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected in early 2027.

Temporary traffic management will be needed at different phases of the works, including:

• A Stop/Go system on Church Road
• Some local road closures
• Local and emergency access will be maintained throughout, and signage will be in place.

Customers with questions about the project can phone Uisce Éireann 1800 278 278, or check the Water Supply Updates section of the Uisce Éireann website for regular updates.

The Delgany project forms part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, which is replacing ageing water mains and improving water services in communities across the country.
