Farmers in West Wicklow are encouraging locals to take part in a text alert system, to report any suspicious activity following a spate of sheep thefts in the Hollywood, Dunlavin, and Shillelagh areas in recent months.
According to the Farming Independent, the Baltinglass Garda Division are investigating two separate thefts of a substantial number of sheep in the area.
102 sheep were taken from Shillelagh between November the 15th and December the 20th.
While 44 sheep were stolen from Friarshill in Dunlavin between the November the 1st and the 1st of January.
