Green Party Deputy Steven Matthews has announced an additional train service for Wicklow.
Following extensive representations to the NTA, Green Party Deputy Steven Matthews has announced an additional train service for Wicklow.
Deputy Matthews said,
"I have been working for this for the last few years so I am delighted to announce the new service will be introduced as a priority in early 2023. It will be a down direction service departing Connolly Station at around 8pm to arrive at Kilcoole 21.04, Wicklow 21.16, Rathdrum 21.30 and Arklow at 21.45. These are approximate times and may shift slightly when the service comes on stream.
"This extra service will provide a little more flexibility for Wicklow rail commuters who are working late or dining out in the city and would like to use public transport to get home.
"While I'm delighted the NTA has responded positively, my main priority for transport in Wicklow is delivering the DART to Wicklow Town on which I am making consistent progress."
Deputy Matthews says that this is part of a wider strategy to improve public transport options in the county:
