The first batch of 1,600 hybrid bicycles have been launched today with the scheme upgrading 50% of the fleet.
The electric option will be available to annual subscribers for an additional €60 per year which will see users receive a removable power bank which fits into a slot in the basket.
Subscribers will be provided with a portable battery that can be used for electrical assistance for up to 10 kilometres per charge.
