New Build At Greystones Community College Will Be Prioritised- Dept Of Education

Wicklow Minister Simon Harris has welcomed positive progress regarding Greystones Community College after months of campaigning.

Greystones Community College will be the first project to break ground in its bundle, further highlighting the importance of this going to construction as soon as possible.

Speaking on this development Minister Harris said: “I have been persistently pushing the Department and Minister for Education on this, and this week I have again spoken with the Minister personally to drive home the need for progress.

Families have raised a number of questions over the past few weeks and some of these have been answered by the Department of Education.

The Department has committed that Greystones Community College will absolutely be the first project among its bundle to break ground.

Further to this, the Department wants to reassure all parents that it will ensure that school places will be available for all children for September 2024 and in to the future.

This is essential, we cannot be satisfied with simply resolving the shortages expected this September. We must have a long term solution to school shortages in the area.

The Department of Education has indicated their next update on the 15th of March, and will be sure to immediately update families once received."

 Minister Harris concluded: “I will not rest until the shortages of school places is resolved.”
