Major investment in projects to improve water quality has been announced by the Government.
The plan will see billions of euro invested in water infrastructure, as well as a dedicated fund to support local communities to carry out their own projects.
The agriculture industry will also have a role to play, with 60 new jobs to help carry out more farm inspections around the use of fertilisers.
Today’s launch also saw the announcement of the Community Water Development Fund for 2025.
Administered by the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO), with funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the scheme provides funding to local communities and groups to support the delivery of projects and initiatives to enhance local water bodies and benefit water quality and biodiversity.
