A new clamping code will take effect from January 2020.
This new code of practice provides greater clarity on the rules governing clamping- including grace period, appeals and complaint processes.
The standards that need to be met before a clamp can be applied to a vehicle are also highlighted; including appropriate signage and the availability of payment mechanisms.
The document also sets the standard for parking controllers and clampers in relation to general behaviour, performance of duties, and conduct.
The National Transport Authority has launched this public consultation on the draft document today, and will be collecting submissions and observations for the next 28 days before the paper is finalised.
It can be found online at nationaltransport.ie.
The closing date for receipt of submissions is 5pm on Monday 11th November 2019.
