The co-ordinating body that deals with rubbish collection has been given extra powers and funding to tackle illegal dumping.
€10 million has been announced for three regional Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authorities which help co-ordinate the waste management work of Wicklow County Council, and enforce laws around dumping.
Drones and CCTV will be used to help detect criminal operations involving dumping.
There has been a 72% decrease in the amount of illegal dumping in the county over the past 15 years.
In 2008 the Pure Mile Project collected 440 tonnes of waste.
