A total of €946,660 has been allocated to road improvement works in the Bray Municipal District (BMD) for 2024, and five sections have already been completed. The updates were presented to councillors at the March meeting of BMD.The five sections are:

L-19543 Seapoint Court: €39,000 on surface inlay.L5807, L5808 and L19533 at St Cronan’s, Greenpark and Fairgreen: €22,000 on patch repairs and surface inlay.L-10029 Wurzburg Road: €30000 on patch repair and surface overlay.L-19698 Heatherwood: €40,000 surface inlay complete.R-766 Meath Road, south of Sidmonton Ave: €16,000 on patch repairs and surface inlay.

Meanwhile, among the issues raised on the topic at the meeting was the delay in providing signage and markings for the hidden disability scheme, something Cllrs Aoife Flynn Kennedy and Melanie Corrigan had been pushing for as far back as April 2022. It was approved by Wicklow County Council last year, with three spaces to be provided in Bray at Eglington Road, Novara Avenue and Herbert road car park.Cllr Flynn Kennedy expressed her frustration at the delay, given the addition of the spaces needs an awareness campaign to work in tandem.Ongoing issues were also raised by Cllr Flynn Kennedy at the Hills roundabout/Ballywaltrim Lane, where “near misses” have been reported, something she has been flagging since 2018.Concerns over the lack of traffic wardens at two schools at the Vevay, in Bray, were raised by Cllr Joe Behan, who thought it was “shocking” that this basic service was not being provided and wondered why there were no staff available at WCC to fill in until wardens were found. The roles have been advertised but as yet, there have been no applicants.
