The HSE is to clarify its guidance following widespread protests at maternity units this week.
The majority of hospitals are claiming they're fully compliant with the HSE's position on maternity restrictions.
However maternity group AIMS says many mothers-to-be are being left without their partner until they're just about to give birth.
