New Maternity Hospital Guidelines On Partner Access Expected In Coming Days

The HSE's expected to meet with patient advocates today to finalise new guidelines on access for partners to maternity units.

Many have been unable to attend scans, labour and childbirth during the pandemic, despite facilities being urged to allow visits.

Last night, the Taoiseach said the new guidelines on maternity access will be published in the coming days.

Many hospitals have ignored requests to ease restrictions around partner visits during the pandemic, despite requests from government and the HSE to do so.

Labour leader and party spokesperson on health says what's happening isn't good enough. 

He says while other restrictions begin to lift, the idea that partners and husbands aren't allowed attend maternity appointments is scandalous.
