40-year-old Karl O'Reilly, of Higginstown Heights in Granard, Co. Longford appeared before Bray District Court this afternoon.
40-year-old Karl O’Reily, from Higginstown Heights, Granard, Co.Longford appeared in Bray District Court this afternoon charged with falsely imprisoning a woman who was abducted in Arklow in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Mr O’Reilly is also charged with threats to kill, assault and the possession of knives.
The court heard that the 31-year-old victim, who cannot be named to protect her identity, described being locked in a van that Karl O’Reilly was driving on March 12th. During this ordeal he threatened to kill her and held a pen knife to her throat.
The woman was subsequently found by gardaí in Mayo and Mr O’Reilly was arrested.
Gardai objected to bail because of a threat of flight risk and Karl O’Reilly was remanded in custody.
He will appear again before Bray District Court via videolink on March 21st.
