A man in his 30s has died following a collision between a southbound bus and a car on the M11.
The accident happened at 9:50pm last night on the M11 southbound carriageway between junction 16 at Wicklow and junction 17 at Rathnew.
The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries to persons was reported during the course of this collision.
It is understood that a car may have been travelling in the wrong direction on the road around the time of the collision.
The road remains closed for examination and is expected to reopen later this morning. Diversions remain in place. The services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
