An Bord Pleanála has rejected a planning application for 330 houses and 30 apartments near Blessington in west Wicklow
The application for the development was a Strategic Housing Development, which meant it by-passed having to apply for permission to the local authority, which in this case would have been Kildare County Council.
Naas Municipal district members had opposed the development amid concerns of a huge increase in traffic volume in the area, while the community of Blessington had argued that Wicklow County Council would lose out on any social housing included in the project and the rates revenue generated by the housing scheme.
