Once again the issue of developing on flood plains in Bray has raised its ugly head, after developers Ballymore, submitted planning to An Bord Pleanala for the development of “the Coastal Quarter” on the Former Bray golf club lands.
In 2007, the lands were earmarked for a €2 billion development by Pizarro, including 950 apartments, which failed to materialise because of the financial crisis.
Local residents in Little Bray are concerned that the new plans contain an increase to the residential capacity for the 52 acre site beside a newly proposed bridge, with construction on the flood plains, which they fear will impact on their properties in the future.
Speaking to East Coast FM’s Morning Show, spokesperson Noeleen McManus said all along they had been led to believe there were no plans to develop on the flood plains.
