Jeffrey Donaldson is likely to be the only contender for the DUP leadership race when nominations close today.
Candidates have until 12 noon to put their names forward - but the new leader won't be declared until Saturday.
Mr Donaldson lost last month's contest to Edwin Poots - who quit last week after just three weeks, following a party revolt.
