Nearly 65-thousand Junior Cert students from Wicklow and around the country will receive their exam results later this morning.
One in ten of the 40,000 students who sat higher level history this year failed the exam.
It comes days after Education Minister Joe McHugh announced the subject will become mandatory in the junior cycle.
Students can get their results from their school or online, but the online option won't be accessible until four o'clock this afternoon.
For anyone not happy with their marks today, appeals have to be made no later than five o'clock this day week.
