The current timeline for sitting the Leaving Cert in June and receiving results in August is not fit for purpose.
The Irish Universities Association will tell the Oireachtas Education Committee later that results should be given out in June. Which will allow colleges to make offers to students in July.
The association says this will give students and colleges more time to prepare for the new academic year:
