Irish Artist Honours Katie Taylor With Mural Ahead Of Croke Park Homecoming

Katie Taylor is further immortalised in a thought provoking new mural as fans prepare for one last chance to see her fight at Croke Park in her curtain call

The last batch of tickets for Katie Taylor's farewell fight in Croke Park go on sale next week.

The event's promoters say the final tickets will be available from Ticketmaster on Monday.

The 40-year-old Olympic gold medallist takes on French boxer, Flora Pili at GAA Headquarters on the 5th of September.

A distinctive mural celebrating Katie Taylor has been unveiled at The Bernard Shaw in Phibsborough in Dublin — ahead of her historic fight at Croke Park on September 5th.

The artwork was created by acclaimed Irish artist Aches, known for his 'bold, contemporary style' and regarded as one of Ireland's most celebrated street artists.

His previous murals have honoured female Irish cultural figures including Sinéad O'Connor, Dolores Keane and Dolores O'Riordan, which provoke the public imagination with his distinctive signature features. 

The commissioners for the artwork Fizzique, one of Katie's sponsors say the decision to ask Aches makes him a ''fitting choice to celebrate Katie Taylor and the pride she continues to inspire nationwide.''

Positioned along the Royal Canal with Croke Park visible in the distance, The Bernard Shaw offers the perfect backdrop for the piece, creating a destination for fans to visit, photograph and celebrate Katie Taylor in the lead-up to fight night.

The mural reflects the admiration and respect Katie has earned throughout her career, capturing the determination, humility and resilience that have made her one of Ireland's most admired athletes — a fighter whose journey from Bray to undisputed world champion has inspired a generation.
