A man in his late 20s who was shot by Gardai in west Dublin has died.
At around 12:15 this afternoon, officers responded to reports of a public order incident at a business in Hartstown.
Gardai chased a man in his late 20s who was armed with a knife at the scene in Manorfields Drive.
The man threatened unarmed officers and members of the Armed Support Unit who arrived later.
Gardai say "less than lethal" options of force were used but were unsuccessful and a number of shots were fired from an official Garda firearm.
The man was treated at the scene before being transferred to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he has since passed away.
