Minister Simon Harris has confirmed increased funding for sports clubs and communities that apply under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.
The Programme has increased its available funding from €150,000 to €200,000, and for projects deemed to be of regional significance, from €300,000 to €500,000.
Minister Harris has also confirmed the focus of this year’s Programme is on climate action and sustainability, and for the first time in the Programmers history, projects can only receive funding if access is guaranteed to men and women equally.
Minister Harris said, “I am extremely pleased to confirm new increased funding for sports clubs and community sports projects with a particular focus on climate action and gender equality under the Sports Capital & Equipment Programme. Sport has long been and continues to be a vital way of connecting our communities and staying in good physical and mental health. I want to encourage as many community projects as possible to apply for this new funding opportunity”.
