The number of children prescribed anti-depressants increased by 25 per cent last year.
1,709 boys and girls under 15 were given the medication under the medical card scheme - compared to 1,369 in 2019.
Last year's figures involved nearly 400 children under 11, and over 1,300 aged between 12 and 15.
