When the outbreak began – gardai launched a special operation to help victims of domestic abuse.
They say so far this year there’s been a 25 per cent increase in calls for assistance. 8,229 calls were made between January and May the 25th
while gardai say 107 prosecutions were made in May.
Detective Chief Superintendent Declan Daly says he wants to assure those experiencing domestic abuse that gardai are available to help them during this difficult time.
