Hotel and guesthouse owners in Wicklow have written to local political expressing the challenges they face.
The tourism sector accounts for just under 15,000 jobs in the county and is worth €135 million in revenue on an annual basis.
There are renewed calls for the government to maintain VAT for tourism and hospitality at 9%.
The rate was reduced in November 2020 in an effort to help the tourism and hospitality industries deal with the impact of pandemic lockdowns.
The government confirmed in the Budget, that it'll return to 13.5% at the end of February.
