Wicklow County Council in consultation with the Taylor Family and An Garda Síochána have announced plans for Katie Taylor’s Homecoming in Bray.
The Bray boxer became the undisputed lightweight champion of the world on Saturday night, when she beat Delfine Persoon at New York's Madison Square Gardens.
It's the highlight of Taylor's career, which has also seen her claim Olympic Gold in 2012.
Wicklow County Council says after consulting with Katie’s family and the gardai, plans are underway for the special homecoming event for Ireland’s undisputed WBA, IBF, WBO and WBC Lightweight World Champion.
Strand Road will be closed to traffic from 5pm on Friday afternoon, with restrictions on Meath Road, with local access only.
Officials say there will be limited parking available on the Florence Road, Herbert Road, at the Carlisle Grounds and at the Bray Institute of Further Education on Novara Avenue.
The event will kick off at half past six with live music, Katie will arrive on the seafront at half past seven and the entertainment will continue until 9pm. Anyone planning to attend the event is being advised to use public transport where possible.
