Third level students are to be given laptops to help them with online learning.
Further Education Minister, Wicklow T.D. Simon Harris says he expects 17,000 devices to be distributed to colleges shortly and ahead of the academic year starting.
The fund for the laptops of 15 million euro and is part of a 168 million euro package for the sector to deal with the impact of Covid-19.
