Greystones Garda Station is set for refurbishment under the Justice Sector Capital Plan 2026–2030. The works, part of a €364 million national Garda estate programme, will modernize facilities, improve working conditions, and enhance public access and safety. This upgrade is supported by a €35 million regional fund for existing stations.
Greystones Garda Station has been formally included for general refurbishment under the new Justice Sector Capital Plan 2026–2030, as part of the National Development Plan Review 2025.
Under this plan, the Government has allocated €2.18 billion in capital funding to the Justice sector between 2026 and 2030.
Of this, over €910 million will be invested in An Garda Síochána, including a €364 million programme for construction and estate refurbishment to provide modern, fit-for-purpose Garda stations nationwide.
Within this programme, a dedicated €35 million regional refurbishment fund has been established to upgrade existing stations. Greystones Garda Station is explicitly listed in this fund for general refurbishment works, alongside other stations across the country.
The planned refurbishment will deliver essential internal upgrades, improving working conditions for Garda personnel and enhancing accessibility and safety for the public.
Nationally, the Garda estate programme aims to strengthen frontline policing by modernizing stations, improving accessibility, and upgrading essential infrastructure.
Minister Harris expressed relief that much needed refurbishment at Greystones Garda station now appears to be imminent....''we've secured government funding for an upgrade to Greystones Garda station. Our Gardaí do an excellent job but in our growing population in Greystones, Delgany, Kilcoole and Newcastle and all the surrounding area, the infrastructure at the Garda station hasn't matched the growth in population.''
The Wicklow TD and Fine Gael party leader says that such improvements are fundamental and absolutely necessary.
''Under our new national development plan we now have explicit funding for Greystones Garda station. This will ensure that there is a refurbishment to deliver much needed internal works and that these works would improve the working conditions for Garda members and staff, making it easier and safer for the public to access policing services locally.''
The Minister for Finance added finally when speaking to east Coast FM news that..... ''Investing in the Gardaí, investing in our Garda infrastructure is a major priority for me and I know this investment in Greystones will make a real difference in our community.''
