Greystones Man Receives Suspended Sentence At Dublin Circuit Criminal Court

A 24 year old recovering drug addict from Wicklow who pleaded guilty to spitting blood and saliva into the faces of gardaí and a paramedic three years ago before telling them he had AIDs, was given a suspended prison sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

Dillon Harris, of Kindlestown Park in Greystones, also pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle without the consent of its owner at East Wall Road on November 21st in  2017 and to reckless endangerment at Sheriff Street in Dublin, on the same date. He also caused almost €3,500 in damage to another vehicle, before he crashed into the wall. According to the Irish Examiner, the court was told he had found work while on bail and had raised €3,700 to offer as a token of his remorse. The judge ordered that this be split between the victims and a charity of their choosing.   He was given concurrent prison terms of 22 months and of two years, suspended for a period of five years, on condition that he remain sober and engages in a restorative justice programme.
