Greystones Gets New Bottle Bank In Time For Christmas

A bottle bank has been installed in Charlesland, Greystones, just in time for Christmas

A bottle bank has been installed in Charlesland, Greystones, just in time for Christmas after a campaign was put in motion by local councillor Stephen Stokes.

The site for the recycling facility is located between Go Gym and the Shoreline Centre Charlesland. Until now, there was nowhere for the thousands of residents in the area to dispose of glass in a sustainable way.

Cllr Stokes worked closely with Wicklow County Council to secure the new bottle bank, which he said has come just in time for the festive season. It can take clear glass, green glass, brown glass and also food cans.

"I welcome this new bottle bank. It is greatly needed in the wider Charlesland area. I suggested a number of sites to Wicklow County Council, one of which was the selected site beside Shoreline Centre Charlesland. I am grateful to the Waste Management Section for bringing this to fruition.

"I'm delighted to see the delivery in time for the festive season. In late December and early January, bottle banks can fill up very quickly. This will help to take the pressure off other bottle banks in the wider Greystones area.
