The Health Minister says Ireland’s measles-free status is at risk if parents stop vaccinating their children.
Minister Harris says he will also be speaking with social media companies to prevent the spread of fake news around vaccines.
There have been 56 cases of Measles in Ireland so far this year; while there have been over 100 cases of mumps.
The aim of the new group is to boost the uptake of childhood vaccines and to reduce hesitancy.

He says that social media sites could flag some pages as a responsible source for information.
The Vaccination Alliance is open to organisations and individuals that support its principals and its membership will be finalised in December.
