€2.8 million in funding has been allocated for a series of Greenway Projects across Wicklow.
This includes a further €1.8 million funding for the Blessington Greenway, €500,000 for the Arklow to Shillelagh Greenway project, €250,000 provided for the Wicklow to Greystones Greenway with a further €250,000 provided to Wicklow County Council to allow for research into future funding projects.
This funding comes from the Department of Transport in conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
€2 million has also been allocated for the N11/M11 Bus Priority Scheme. €750,000 for the N11 Kilmacanogue to Southern Cross Road, €465,000 for the Kilmacanogue Service Road and €755,000 for the N81.
The objective of the N11/M11 Bus Priority Interim Scheme is to develop bus priority measures (both ways) during peak periods on the N11/M11. Such priority facilities can be used by buses to avoid congested traffic lanes, and help to reduce the current dependency on the private car.
