Gardai To Investigate Recent Incident On Bray Train Line.

Last Wednesday, services were suspended between Dalkey and Bray due to an overhead power line issue in Killiney.

Passengers were forced to walk to Bray along the train lines. Minister Harris sought urgent answers from Irish Rail, who have now confirmed to him this was a deliberate act and is the subject of a garda investigation.

Speaking about this, Minister Harris said, “I welcome the update from Irish Rail to me and I am pleased that the Gardai are no investigating the issue.

“Irish Rail has confirmed the incident was due to act of deliberate vandalism and criminal damage which may include endangerment.

” A object was thrown from the road bridge south of the station onto the overhead live wires, resulting in the overhead lines being severed.

“There can be no tolerance for any wanton vandalism. This issues caused significant inconvenience and worry for commuters. It is important answers are secured. I will continue to monitor this closely.”

Irish Rail confirmed Wednesday evening 1st November, the 18.40 Howth/Bray service was stopped just outside Shankill Station due to overhead power line damage.
