Gardaí are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions, after a large crowd gathered at a house in Enniscorthy in County Wexford, following a funeral in Gorey last Monday.
According to independent.ie, Enniscorthy currently has the second highest infection rate of Covid-19 in the country, with 3,291 cases per 100,000 of the population.
Despite no more than 10 Mourners allowed at funerals, the Government has expressed concerns after reports of “significant numbers” attending funerals around the country, mainly gathering outside churches or in Cemeteries.
On Monday, Gardaí put in place a policing plan for a funeral in Gorey, but it is understood a number of people gathered at a house in Enniscorthy later that evening.
Last Saturday, 54 people from Dublin were issued fines after breaching level five restrictions to attend a house party at an AirBnB property in Rathnew.
