Further Funding Supports Announced For Over 1,000 Farmers In Wicklow

Wicklow Fine Gael Minister Simon Harris has today confirmed over 1,000 farmers in Wicklow would be receiving advanced payments under the Fodder Support Scheme.

Minister Harris said, “Today I am glad to announce that the Government have commenced payments for farmers under the Fodder Support Scheme 2023.

“Each farmer under this scheme is set to receive 57% of the total owed to them in these payments. This will further assist farmers in dealing with the increase in agricultural costs.”

Total Number of Wicklow Farmers under this scheme - 1020

1. Farmers who have been accepted into the 2022 Fodder Support Scheme are eligible to apply for the 2023 Fodder Support Scheme.
2. The online system will re-open in May-June 2023 to allow applicants amend their declared area/withdraw from the Scheme.
3. The maximum area eligible for payment under the scheme is 10 hectares with a potential maximum payment of €1,000.
4. Where the Scheme is oversubscribed, the payment rate per hectare will be less than €100 per hectare. In this scenario, the Department will reduce the payment rate for all hectares or maintain the rate of €100 per hectare on the first few hectares and reduce it on the latter hectares.
5. Advance payments commenced in December 2022, with balancing payments being made in Quarter 4 2023.
