It's part of a national project of extensions across 11 institutions which will help to create space for 8,000 additional students.
The construction of a new Digital Media Building will house animation and visual design communications labs, with capacity also for growth in courses in creative computing, entrepreneurship and creative technologies.
The extension will span 7,300 square metres and will be included in the first project bundle.
