Four Irish Names Make The List of Storm Names For Coming Season

Storms Barra and Sean could batter Ireland's coast over the next year.

Met Eireann has announced the list of storm names for the coming season, along with the weather services in the UK and Netherlands.

Four Irish names have made this list which has been released since 2015.

Head of Forecasting with Met Eireann Evelyn Cusack, says only storms they think will carry red or orange weather warnings are named. 

She says naming them has been shown to increase awareness of severe weather and to help with citizens' safety,

Arwen, Barra, Corrie, Dudley, Eunice, Franklin, Gladys, Herman, Imani, Jack, Kim, Logan, Meabh, Nasim, Olwen, Pol, Ruby, Sean, Tineke, Vergil, Willemien.
