A higher share than ever of first-time buyers took out mortgages last month as banks loaned out 946 million euro
.The number of home loans approved in August is up 14 per cent ,after reducing during the pandemic restrictions, but it's still down 11 per cent on the same month last year.
3,875 mortgages were taken out, 2,259 of them by people buying their first home.
