Just 11 months after being appointed as the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly has had a substantial wooden fence erected across the front of his Wicklow home, in what has been described as a security measure.
A number of politicians contacted last Friday say they were unaware that the Minister had been the target of any harassment, which would require the erection of the fence, understood to have been carried out by the OPW.
Reports at the weekend say a number of incidents had occurred, which included items being thrown at windows and left on the doorstep of the Ministers home.
Two years ago, the then Health Minister, Minister Simon Harris was the subject of a sustained campaign, with protesters outside his home. While security measures were implemented, there were no barriers or walls erected.
