The Irish Coast Guard is urging anyone planning an activity on or near the water to keep safety in mind, and be aware of the serious risk of cold-water shock.
Lifeguards will operate until 8 pm each evening this week, until Friday 26th June, and start an hour earlier at 10 am, as soaring temperatures flocking to Wicklow beaches.
Lifeguard numbers have also been increased for this period of hot weather. Lifeguards are on duty at the following Wicklow beaches during the bathing season:
- Arklow Cove
- Brittas Bay North and South
- Wicklow Harbour
- Greystones South Beach
- Bray promenade South and North.
Lifeguarded hours are ordinarily 11am to 7pm weekdays and weekends.
Note: Wicklow County Council advises that beaches are not supervised, outside of these times.
