A 24-year-old man from County Wicklow is one step closer to becoming the first Irish-born NFL player for nearly 40 years.
Daniel Whelan, from Enniskerry, is currently the only punter left on the Green Bay Packers roster, ahead of tonight's deadline requiring all American Football teams to finalise their squads.
If Green Bay does not sign another punter before 9pm Irish time, then he will be in line to make his NFL debut on Sunday, September 10th.
