Emergency payments are not income tested and cover immediate essentials like food, clothing and bedding.
Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris has announced details of the Emergency Response Payment available to support householders in County Wicklow impacted by Storm Chandra.
The scheme, administered by the Department of Social Protection, provides financial support to residents whose homes have been damaged by the severe weather.
Widespread flooding across Wicklow brought traffic to a standstill on the N11 from early, with the east and south of the county worst effected.
Simon Harris says:
I know today has been extremely difficult for many families across Wicklow who have seen their homes damaged by Storm Chandra.
I want to reassure affected residents that support is available and I would encourage anyone who needs assistance to contact the Community Welfare Service as soon as possible.
The Finance Minister also outlined:
Stage 1 emergency payments are available now and are not income tested. These cover immediate essentials such as food, clothing and bedding. Further support for replacing household items and essential structural repairs is also available under Stages 2 and 3 of the scheme.
Affected householders can access supports by contacting the Community Welfare Service, on 0818 60 70 80.
